A mythological community of people arriving after Columbus and living on a spongy green floating island where flocked green rocks are stacked on walkways leading to the sacred monkey temple. People’s props and appendages are assembled from secondhand and found objects and their clay torsos are cast from plaster molds, air dried, then kiln fired to feel soft and smooth to the touch.
The Americas as a mythological community, acknowledges years of people’s progress of acculturation from Europe, Asia, India, and the Pacific Rim. These folk figures are shrines of real people, superheroes. These figurines offer thanks to the artists, poets, painters, and philosophers among us- who keep scholarship and the arts alive.
